Neurodiagnostic Services
EEG (electroencephalogram) is a graphic record of the
minute changes in electrical activity of the brain as
detected by electrodes applied to the surface of the
scalp. The EEG is used to help determine the cause of
illness or injury. Routine EEG procedures are performed
bedside or in the outpatient office. Seizures are video
taped at the physician's request.
Ambulatory EEG's are 24-hour recordings, taped as the
patient goes about his or her normal routine, day and
night.
We have an outreach program that allows surrounding
hospitals to have their Ambulatory EEG tapes scanned
in our department.
EEG monitoring during specific operating procedures,
such as cerebral vascular surgeries, are routinely performed.
