Medical Social Workers
Patients and their families who have been identified
as having a need for assessment or counseling and have
been referred by a physician may receive Medical Social
Workers Services. These services are not age limited.
It is a brief outpatient service consisting of approximately
one to four visits per patient. If more than four visits
would be needed, referrals would be made to the appropriate
medical resources or community agencies.
Reasons for referrals may include assistance in coping
with a newly diagnosed illness, chronic or end stage
diseases, cancer, diabetes, pulmonary disease, substance
abuse, anxiety, stress, situational disorders, domestic
abuse, etc.
