General Surgeons work with Ottumwa Regional Health
Center
Ottumwa Regional Health Center is pleased to announce
that Dr. Paul Riggs and Dr. Tim Breon of Iowa Rural
Surgical Associates in Oskaloosa have agreed to work
with us on an interim basis-while the search for two
new general surgeons to replace Drs. Pitzen and Paluska
is underway. They will be working in collaboration with
Dr. Arun Chowla, our full-time general surgeon.
 Dr.
Riggs received his medical degree from the University
of Illinois-Rockford in July 1980, and completed his
residency in general surgery in Wichita, Kansas in 1985.
He has practiced in Oskaloosa since 1985. Dr. Riggs
lives in Oskaloosa with his wife and four children.
Dr. Breon, a native of Hedrick, joined Dr. Riggs in
August of 2002. He received his medical degree from
the University of Iowa in 1997, and completed his general
surgery residency in Dayton, Ohio, in July 2002. Dr.
Breon lives in Oskaloosa with this wife and their five
children.
Dr. Chowla obtained his medical degree from Maulana
Azad Medical College in New Delhi India, and completed
his general surgery residency and chief residency in
General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center. He went
on to complete an advanced fellowship in vascular surgery
at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, in June 2000.
Dr. Chowla lives in Ottumwa with his wife Dr. Navreet
Mahli-Chowla, (gastroenterology) and their two children.
Dr. Riggs and Dr. Breon will be scheduling clinic time
in Ottumwa beginning April 2nd. Their offices will be
located in the former Surgical Specialists space on
the second floor of the Ottumwa Clinic. Appointments
with Dr. Riggs or Dr. Breon can be made through your
primary care provider's office, or by calling the surgeons
directly at 641-672-2455.
Dr. Chowla's present office is at the Family Practice
and Specialties office of Iowa Health Physicians. His
office is currently located at 623 Pennsylvania Avenue,
but he will be relocating to the Ottumwa Clinic in the
near future. Appointments with Dr. Chowla can also be
